HCF working to restore tidal marsh trail on Whale Branch Campus
Aerial view of the Whale Branch school campus and proposed marsh trail
Whale Branch Middle and Elementary Schools sit on a 45-acre rural campus bordered by the Whale Branch River which has a diverse woodland component and an extensive salt marsh edge. Heritage Community Farm seeks to secure funding to restore a trail along the upland border of the tidal salt marsh. The restoration will permit students to safely study the unique ecology found on campus. Students will be able to participate in STEM related activities observing animal and floral species and to collect data to support classroom research projects.
